Although the name on my books is "J.G." McKenney, you can call me John. I'm a proud Canadian with deep roots in Rideau Lakes Township, about an hour southwest of Ottawa, Ontario. My family has called the area home for almost two hundred years.
I live on pristine Otter Lake (just a few bays away from where I grew up) with my wife and best friend, Wendy. She's a beautiful, smart, and incredibly talented artist. Always my first reader, her clever insights, thoughtful opinions, and sensitive advice have made me a better writer--and person. We both love nature and music, and believe learning is a gift and an obligation. We consider ourselves "book knights," but you'll need to read my novel to find out what that's all about.
My fascination with fantasy and adventure began at a young age when I discovered works like The Hobbit and The Call of the Wild. That early love of reading has matured into a need to tell stories that transport readers into worlds full of wonder and enchantment. It's an addiction I don't intend to kick. The problem is I'll be dead long before I can write all the books I've got in my head. There...just thought of another one.
In the winter, you'll find me at home working away on a manuscript, reading someone else's book, strumming on one of my guitars, or going on long walks with Wendy. If it's Friday afternoon, I'll be playing hockey with the boys.
Summer's my favorite season. It's a time for boating, swimming, reclining in my zero-gravity chair under the shade of the maple trees next the lake shore, strumming guitars, or going on long walks with Wendy. If it's Thursday afternoon, I'll be playing golf with the boys.
I just completed The Blademaster's Call, the first book in a new epic fantasy series, The Chronicle of Jack Green. It's very different from the other books I've written, and it's aimed at an adult audience. It pokes fun at the genre and I think those who like to laugh will have a great time with it.
I hope you enjoy all my books, and I encourage you to post reviews so others can know your thoughts.
Happy reading!
